Store Credit Guidelines + FAQ
Store credit is one of the best parts of ASG! We will take your used board games, RPGs, video games & movies in on trade and you get to pick up fresh games, books & movies in return!
We've had lots of questions about how store credit works over the years, and especially since transitioning to a mostly-online model. Here are some guidelines to answer some of our most frequently asked questions regarding our trade program:
How do I use my store credit?
The first time we add credit to your account, you will receive an email with a link to set up your account and detailed instructions on how to apply your credit. Please note that store credit does not automatically apply at checkout; it needs to be manually added using your 'Store Credit' widget on the left side of the webpage. The final amount shown at checkout is reflective of the amount that will be charged to your credit card post-store-credit (ex. if you have enough store credit to cover the entire purchase and it has been applied, your total at checkout should read $0.00)
What can I use my store credit on?
The short answer; any in-stock product on the website (used AND new) in any category can be paid for with store credit at any time.
Special-ordered items and preorders may have the non-cost portion of the price covered with store credit (cost is usually between 52-60% of the item's price).
Store credit cannot be applied to any shipping costs, both on in-stock items and special orders.
Can I use store credit with discounts?
Store credit does combine with our normal MiniMonday discount and the Boop's ASG Fam Club discount! However, it does not combine with deep-discount clearance sales like our Quarter Quell. You can still purchase clearance items using store credit during the sale, but applying store credit will remove the clearance discount.
I meant to apply store credit but didn't. Is that easy to switch?
Unfortunately, it is not. We can always run a refund of the original transaction & restock the item for you to repurchase using store credit, but Shopify does not return the credit card fees to us so we do just offer a 95% refund in these situations.
I had $10 in store credit and used it to purchase a $9.99 item. At checkout, it displayed that $9.17 in store credit was applied, and I still owed $0.89 on my card. Afterwards, my store credit balance was $0.01. What is happening there?
CreditsYard is the app we use to handle our store credit system, and it is the best we found for what we needed it to do, but this is a weird little thing it does. I cannot figure out how to make it display differently at checkout, but rest assured that the correct math is being done 😂
What is happening is CreditsYard is applying $9.17 of your store credit to the cost of the item, and then also holding aside and applying $0.82 for the sales tax on that $9.17. The $0.89 remaining to be paid is the $0.82 of the item cost not covered by store credit, plus $0.07 in tax on that $0.82. Again, cannot figure out how to make that display on the checkout page, but it is mathing correctly on the backend.
