Preorder Cancellations

The simplest answer is, we don't really offer preorder cancellations for reasons outside of that we majorly screwed up an order. When you place a preorder at ASG, we commit to buying a copy from our distributor for you. If we are cancelling preorders left and right, it reduces our purchasing pull with distributors when it comes to placing orders in the future, because they are counting on us as well to purchase the copies we requested. At our core, we are a tiny, tiny game store specializing mainly in used games. We do not order dozens of extra copies of new titles to have on hand for months on end, so you might be the only person we order a specific title for.

"We majorly screwed up" is not:

- The publisher released some copies at a convention before the retail release date. We have no control over what the publisher offers. This is not us missing a release date; it is the publisher offering something special for an event.

- You saw it somewhere else and bought an additional copy. This includes GenCon, Origins, etc!

- The release date changed or we didn't have the game exactly on release date. Not only do publishers not always adhere to their release schedules, sometimes they try to and logistics just get in the way. Yes, sometimes Amazon, Target, Barnes & Noble, Miniature Market, etc. will receive their copies a few days before we do. The unfortunate reality in the game industry is that large companies / accounts are prioritized over small shops.

Sometimes we will offer a refund if a game was heavily allocated and our distributors were undersold by the publisher. We will contact people on a case-by-case basis if this is what happens with a specific title. 

Please realize that we will go far above and beyond for you in as many ways as we can, and that we appreciate your flexibility and understanding when you are ordering from a small business. If the above does not work for you, please consider that we might not be the best fit for your preordering needs. Thanks!
